Who is My Baby Star?

My Baby Star was developed in 2006. On Boxing Day, 2005, we became the proud parents of our beautiful twins, Michael and Chloe. With relatives in Western Australia, Victoria and Queensland, and friends as far away as the UK, we were faced with the problem of trying to inform everyone and at the same time!

The prospect of many long distance phone calls was too expensive, and we wanted to avoid the problems of sending large photo attachments via email. So we developed a secure, password-protected website where everyone could 'log in' and see how things were going as often as they liked. Best of all, the internet allowed us to share our twins' birth with loved ones at home and work - wherever they were in Australia or the world. The feedback was so positive we developed My Baby Star along the same lines to allow you to share the most important event of your life with relatives and friends in an easy, secure and practical way as well.

Registration is free. As a registered member, you can create a family web site and online albums for family members. My Baby Star will never sell or disclose your personal information to others.

Privacy Statement & Terms of Use

1. Disclosure of Membership information to third parties

Personal information that visitors submit to our site is used only for the purpose for which it is submitted unless we disclose other uses in this Internet Privacy Policy or at the time of collection. We will not sell or pass on your details to third parties.

2. Collection of information

Personal Information about Members and visitors to our site is collected only when knowingly and voluntarily submitted. For example, we may need to collect such information to provide you with further services or to answer or forward any requests or enquiries. It is our intention that this policy will protect your personal information from being dealt with in any way that is inconsistent with applicable privacy laws in Australia.

3. Member contributions

You should submit only content which belongs to you and will not violate the property or privacy of other persons. As such, images and information published in family web sites must be submitted with the expressed permission of the parents, and parents must be informed this information is being published on the internet.

My Baby Star takes no responsibility for the content of any material posted by members, but reserves the right in its sole discretion to (i) edit or delete any information or other material submitted to or appearing on this site, and (ii) refuse access to the site to any user that violates this agreement.

4. Security of Personal Information

We strive to ensure the security, integrity and privacy of personal information submitted to our site. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be totally secure. However, we will endeavour to take all reasonable steps to protect the personal information you submit to us and will make our best efforts to ensure its security on our systems.

In addition, our employees and the contractors who provide services related to our information systems are obliged to respect the confidentiality of any personal information held by us. However, we will not be held responsible for events arising from unauthorised access to your personal information.

5. Membership responsibilities for privacy

It is each member's responsibility to consider whether or not they should post images or personal information on this web site before doing so. Only Power Members have passcode protected family web sites, and as such all forms of Free membership should be carefully considered. Absolutely anyone can view your personal information (pictures, blog, birthdays) in our Free member family web sites. My Baby Star recommends all members consider upgrading to the level of Power Membership (with passcode protection) to protect your personal information and family privacy. My Baby Star accepts no liability or responsibility for members' privacy with Free membership accounts.

All albums, including Power Member's albums, have images that may be viewed by the general public on the home page of our web site (as a random sample of 15 thumbnailed images). While thumbnail images will be visible, there will be no text linking images to Family names and your personal information. This random sample of images on the home page helps our membership grow and helps keep My Baby Star a largely free service! Please consider this when posting images to both Free and Power Member family albums.

6. Reporting abuse

My Baby Star is a family oriented site. Pornographic or violent material of any kind may not be submitted. Any such activity will be reported to your ISP, and if necessary, local authorities. Where content published by Members contravenes Federal or State Law, or conflicts with the nature of My Baby Star's service, My Baby Star reserves the right in its sole discretion to (i) remove this content, and (ii) refuse access to the site to any Member that violates this agreement.

7. Links to other sites

My Baby Star provides links to sites outside of our web site, as well as to third party sites. These linked sites are not under our control, and we cannot accept responsibility for the conduct of companies linked to our website. Before disclosing your personal information on any other website, we advise you to examine the terms and conditions governing that web sites and its privacy statement.

8. Payments for Membership periods

Where payments are made to upgrade or extend membership periods, My Baby Star will not refund portions of payments made if members decide to cancel their membership before the period of paid access expires. My Baby Star will make every effort to confirm internet payments as soon as possible, but is not responsible for faults or downtimes associated with internet payment gateway services (such as PayPal).
